Why are my tomato plants going yellow + wilting?

Image
Hey all, I'm a novice gardener and having some trouble with my tomato plants. They have been growing quite nicely but recently some of the newer leaves are turning yellow and then wilting. The stem of one of my plants had black spots and now is going brown. I researched it and it could be disease, dehydration or malnutrition.I fertilized the soil last week and regularly water my crops and I'm only having trouble with the tomatoes. The tomatoes are the only plant in the little crop box. I live in Australia and it's been really hot recently so it could just be from the heat. I took pictures of the plants in question. Let me know your thoughts!

Is there a way to fix this?

Mulching with leaves after frost

Image
Due to illness, I didn't get to finish winter preparations this year. I've gathered a few big bags of leaves, but I haven't spread them around my beds, and the hard frost is here (-6-7°C now). No snow. Will be -1°C next week. Is it still beneficial if I spread the leaves around now as mulch? And should I water them in?We have uneven winters with both frost and thawing in periods usually. I'll be mowing them first. Thanks in advance!

Recommendations to plant over winter

Image
I’m looking for a few plants I can potentially grow in the garden over winter to get yields in early spring. Would anyone have any recommendations on what to plant? I’ve got access to compost from our compost bin, a small patch of ground to plant directly into and also a few large pots we can use to plant items in if containers make it easier to grow!

Lemon tree overwintering

Image
Hi folks,I'm trying to look after my lemon tree, it's in a big pot (60cm) and I've moved it to the greenhouse, which has an automated heater when the temperatures drop below 3 degrees celsius. I've noticed today that the leaves are starting to curl up a little. The soil feels moist, so I'm really reluctant to overwater the tree in winter. The heater couldn't have been on much so far, as the temperatures are only now starting to sink below 3 degrees. Humidity inside the greenhouse is around 95% and the other plants (olives and grapefruit) are not showing any signs of stress (yet).Should I do something about it? Water more? Increase heating? Reduce humidity?I barely managed to save it last year and it made a wonderful recovery, so I'm really anxious now :)Thanks!

Propagation

Image
Hello, everyone! Does anyone know how I can propagate a plant called curtain ivy or princess vine? I'm not sure if that's the correct name. My neighbor has one, and I was thinking of asking for a sample, but I don't know how to grow it myself. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!https://ift.tt/lRstX4H

Help! My Longan plant looks really sick.

Image
This is my Longan plant, from the image you can see that the leafs look pretty rough and theres also this white stuff on it, not sure what it is so please let me know if you know. [ Heres some extra info i think you might find useful, this Longan plant is about a few years old now, I'm guessing 6 years old though I'm not exactly sure. The white part is only on the upper part of the plant and the lower part doesn't have any. The leaves on the upper part look more rough than the lower part of it. I have 2 other Longan plants and they look perfectly healthy with no rough looking leafs and white stuff on them (The sick Longan plant is the youngest of the three but the biggest/ tallest) . Might be a shocker but I already first noticed it about 2 years ago on the same plant but i ignored it, just looks a little worse lately so I started to become a little more concerned. At one point, about a few months ago, nearly all the leafs were gone and somehow it managed to survive, but t

Variegated Grafting

Image
If I were to graft part of variegated plant onto another of the same species, would the grafted piece still continue to grow ND produce variegated leaves?Would it being connected to a plant with more chlophil promote more growth? For example I have a rubber tree, and my roomate has a variegated rubber tree. If I were to take some of the variegated rubber tree and grafted it to mine, would that graft continue to grow variegated or would my non variegated rubber tree over ride it? And would that grafted section grow faster than the plant it was taken from?

Move apple trees

Image
Hello,We are going to be moving in the summer of next year and want to take 6 apple trees with us. They are about 3 years old and have just started growing some fruit past summer.I read that the time to do this would be in winter when the trees are dormant. Can we remove them from the ground and keep them in (large) pots and then replant them in summer after the move, or keep them in the pots until fall next year? Thanks for the insights.

What do you grow that gets eaten before it ever makes it into the house?

Image
For me it's sugar snap peas. I will sit and eat every single one straight off the vine. They rarely, if ever, make it into the house. I eat cherry tomatoes & blackberries straight from the plant too, but sugar snap peas are my downfall. If there are a lot, I will leave them on the vine for the next day, or stuff my pockets so I can snack on them while I continue to work outside, and it's the only produce I do not share.

Need Help Starting Out New Garden

Image
I need help in starting out a tiny food garden in about 20 sq ft of space in a tiny balcony. I know it's a squeeze but I want to start something that space. I've had a bigger garden (with pots) before but I'm starting one out here. I want to try out low-maintenance and yielding plans maybe even companion planting? I can try growing vining plants to flow through the balcony railing but need advice on what to start with?Preface: This space gets only indirect sunlight (not very potent), for about 6-7 hours a day.Temperature and climate: Tropical, Temperature range yearly is about 12-35°C

Capsicum dropping flowers

Image
My capsicum plant keeps dropping flowers. I grow in containers and it’s been raining a lot the last few weeks. I think they are either overwatered due to the abundance of rain. Or they are losing nutrients from the pots as the rain is washing them away. I’ve been fertilising weekly. I’ve stopped watering except for the rain. It’s been between 25-30 celcius. Should I just give up on these guys and put in some new capsicums? Or should I persevere? How do you know when it’s time to cut your losses?
