I LOVE the smell of manure

Image
This might be an unpopular take, but I love the smell of any animal's manure. I've tried sheep, goat, horse and chicken. Something about the natural aspect of this compost makes me really appreciate the smell. And the stronger it smells the more efficient I feel like it is.Also it's so cheap, and so far it has been the most efficient compost I've tried. And it's slow release so you can just put as much as you want and not damage the plant

Opinions on grow lights and help on which one to purchase?

Image
I'm a beginner and only starting out with growing indoor miniature roses and the only really sunny spot during the day is at the sliding doors that goes out to the backyard. I am looking into grow lights for now as I have to place the small pot of roses on the ground in front of the door, it might at some point need to be repotted into something a little too big to keep there and I also eventually want to have more indoor plants. Is there a specific brand for a grow light that works well and is trustworthy? I've looked at a few online and I love seeing that they tend to have set timers but I've seen complaints here and there about the bulbs getting too hot. I work during the week so I don't want to be concerned about a potential fire starting but also want to get one to try over the weekend to give it a chance. I would love to know people's experiences with them that have/currently use them, thank you!

Someone please help 😭 Can I save it?

Need help planning my garden

Image
Hey all, I made a post a few days ago but due to language issues, I’m doing a new, proper one now.I need some help planning the restoration of old family property. Its a wild meadow now, it was once used for hay production, then for some 20 years horses lived there and then it was just unused and grew wild over the last 10 years. Now I want to restore a part of it as a garden. I have like 1000 ideas, but no real plan where to start. Ill try to give you as much information as I can, plus some photos of the property and what I’ve already done last year. The issues are, there is no running fresh water, no electricity, it is on the other side of the town (15min car, 40min Bike ride) and I have very limited money, so I’m trying to to everything with as little money possible.https://ift.tt/mEyJAMu at a zone comparable to 6a. The entire area is around 50x250m, sitting at the north side of an old forest, down at the river. The ground is at a slope for a bit over half the distance, so most of th

How can I help my tree

Image
We were hit with a strong windstorm a few weeks back. The storm broke all the branches off a tree (it was a very strong storm). It basically now looks like a giant tall stump and I'm literally so upset. This tree is a huge part of my childhood, is there anything I can do to help it survive. The tree is still alive but there doesn't appear to be any regrowth. I'm fighting with my parents because they want it gone (they've been wanting it cut down for reasons they refuse to tell me) and they said if I can find a way to regrow at least one branch they'll keep it around. They think I won't find a way. I'm begging for help.

Please advise me how to help my lemon tree.

Please help diagnose my friend: my 10 year old orange tree :(

Image
I have tried finding what's wrong with my 10 year old, very well established but now dying orange tree. Plenty of fruit finally ripened at the start of summer (here in New Zealand) and you could see that the leaves were very weak and looked old. We started feeding it compost as well as magnesium (which is deficient in New Zealand soil) (but no citrus specific fertilizer). However, a few weeks later, leaves started dropping by the hundreds daily! So I would doubt it is nutrients. Now it has around 20 very small, young leaves but then just the last 2 or so days these tiny leaves which look otherwise healthy also started dying, as if they were sprayed with insecticide/dried out from draught (i.e. yellowing and curling up), however it has been quite rainy in New Zealand!I have looked for signs of every common disease: sooty mold, aphids, etc. Whilst the older leaves do have persistent characteristics with a few of these parasitic diseases (e..g a few have reminants of insects and blac

Watering indicator

Image
Hi all, Ive recently inherited a lot of houseplants and am afraid of killing them, I want some watering indicators and remember these little plastic tabs that would change colour, all the modern ones seem to be exspensive but these were cheap in the 90's and as I recall were used alot by my mother. I'm sure they still exist but I cannot find them on google no matter what I search, I'm sure I just don't know the right name for them. Does anyone know what they are called?

Finally got a garden, startet to clean up the mess💪 but i have still a lot to do
