Tall, easy to manage plant or tree that can serve as a privacy divider?

Image
The back of our house looks into our neighbors' property and it's not a pretty view. I'm looking for ideas on how to give us more privacy and also block off their mess. We can't really build a wall or a fence so any suggestions on what to plant? I live in a tropical country so something that will thrive in a very humid, sunny environment.

Dwarf Cavendish banana

Image
I was gifted a dwarf cavendish banana plant as a Mother’s Day gift from my best friend. I am an avid gardener of lilies, roses of sharon, gardenias, and vegetables; but have no experience with bananas. I live in zone 8, and considered planting the banana plant in the ground, but never decided on a spot. My plant that was once two foot tall, is now taller than me. I recently replanted it for the third time, in a very large pot. Does anyone know the trick to overwintering? I’m definitely planting it in the ground come spring.

Which one of these two woodchippers would you recommend? What should I look out for in general? All woodchipper-advice appreciated!

Image
I've been eyeing woodchippers for a while now since I have a garden with lots of trees and bushes that need to be trimmed. Plus, I'm surrounded by other gardens that regularly want to dispose of their branches - I'll happily take those too to get more organic matter for my compost & mulching needs. Now there are two options I've been looking at for a while now and I would love to have someone experienced guide me a little:This one I can get for 420.-. It seems chinese-built since there are other brand-lookalikes. The reviews and videos in action seem alright and it would do the job for my garden. This one I can get for 540.-. Looks like a more high-quality option, but I'm not sure. Just because it's built in the UK, can I expect more quality? Reviews look good too and it'd definitely get the job done.Bottom line: What do I need to consider when making this decision? I'm a layman when it comes to these woodchippers and there's probably some stuff I

Help with propagating young fig tree cuttings

Image
Hi! Im new to this subreddit and also to any kind of tree care. I received some fig tree cuttings as a gift to propegate. Nobody really knows what kind of fig trees these are, and how to best care for them. We live in Slovenia and these figs are also from here, so they are probably starting to get ready for winter right about now. So my question is- how should i go about trying to root them? I saw many methods. Some say to cut off all the leaves, some say to just dip them in water etc. Does anybody have any experiance wit this? Thanks!!!!!Fig tree cuttings https://ift.tt/sFxC9bh

Empty "used" soil from containers?

Image
Hi I'm looking for advice regarding container gardening. I've had a couple smallish containers this year where I grew courgettes, beans and peas. I generally like the idea o f no dig, but as the containers are so small I don't know if all the nutrients are already "used up". Should I empty the soils from them and mix in new compost for next year or do you keep the soil and just top up? TIA
