If i plant sunflower seedlings in my mint patch, would the mint overtake the sunflowers?

Image
Just moved into a place with a garden patch that’s overrun with mint, I’m growing sunflowers and the mint is flowering so I’ll remove it soon anyway. If I were to plant the seedlings in the same garden bed as the mint would they kill the sunflowers?

Amaryllis Bulbs

Image
Sometime ago (around late december) I found a cut amaryllis flower left on the ground. I felt bad so I took it home and put it in water. Flash to some weeks ago, I noticed bulbs forming from the plant. I have kind of just kept it in and out of water but the steam starts to get soggy if I leave it in water and dry out if I take it out. In addition the steam was cut pretty short. Is it possible to keep cultivating the seed pods without in dying in the next few weeks?

Resources for a beginner?

Image
I recently purchased a home and had the good fortune of inheriting a beautiful garden. I’d really like to continue growing vegetables like the previous owners (tomato, kale, chard, broccoli, basil, etc), but trouble is that I know absolutely nothing about gardening! What resources would you recommend for someone like me? YouTube channels, books, websites, etc. I’m very excited to have a project like this, and I appreciate that there’s tons to learn considering it’s both art & science. I have 4 decent sized raised garden beds to work with and live in Oregon. My goal is to finalize a plan by end of winter so I can hit the ground running when things finally warm back up. Thanks in advance for your help!

Can I move these herbs without killing them?

Image
I planted some cilantro and basil (and a third one I can't remember) a while back, but the seeds didn't sprout. I assumed they were dead since they'd been sitting for a year or two, so I just used the soil they were in when I repotted a begonia. They sprouted anyway, and I was content to leave them where they came up. I was not expecting so much of it to actually live. Is it okay to leave them all with the begonia, or should I remove them? If I should remove them, is it possible to replant them elsewhere? The two that seemed to come up are cilantro and basil. I know both get sizeable. I don't think the third herb actually came up.And this is what was already in the pot.

Shallots

Image
I'm looking for advice on shallots -- it's exceedingly difficult to source organic shallots here in Wisconsin, USA. I just ordered some seeds from Johnny's which I'm sure will be great, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for entirely. From my understanding, French shallots rarely go to seed and so you have to get sets. But there isn't a lot of info about the difference. These seeds from Johnny's even claim to be French shallots... so I don't understand the fuss about these 7 dollar sets offered elsewhere. Also, (my apologies to you shallot farmers) but they're basically cool little long storage onions right?

Fortunella Margarita in the UK

Image
I've brought a Fortunella Margarita that I had in Spain to the UK, where I currently live. This plant was a gift that I gave to my father when he was in palliative care because of a cancer. Is one of the things that I have left that connects me to him and I really want if to grow healthy. Any tips on how to take care of this plant on this cold weather with very few sun light? 🥺

Why don't plants like too much fertilizer? After all, they should be happy that they have a lot of food

Broken...style?

Image
so I tried to hand pollinate my blueberries because there are no pollinators around my place whatsoever...and on one of them I accidentally broke the "style" of the flower? The tube connecting the stigma to the ovary I mean. So now I'm just confused if it's gonna fruit at all or not, I do know I have a self fertile plant and the flowers been open for a few days but im worried.

Castor beans arrived cracked/broken

My packet of 50 castor beans I got from Outsidepride on Amazon arrived today. Some of them arrived broken/cracked. Is it still safe to interact with them since they are poisonous or do I just get another packet?
