Storing potatoes which have already sprouted

I got a bunch of really cheap seed potatoes however they are all already sprouting. I guess that's the reason they were so cheap...Now I am wondering if I can remove the sprouts and store them in a cool place until early next year or if this is already to late to do that. I will definitely plant some but planting all of them will be quite a challenge.
