Growing Cedar of Lebanon from seed - help!

Hi everyone! Ive got a question about growing cedar of Lebanon from seed. I was able to collect a few seeds from huge Cedar of Lebanon trees in Lebanon earlier this year and decided to plant them once I came back from my trip. Back at home, I got them to germinate and planted them in pots. They almost all started to grow perfectly to about 3-5 cm tall and the all looked healthy, the faster growing ones are already starting to grow their 2nd set of leaves/needles. However, one day I found one laying flat on the ground, that still looked perfectly fine apart from that. When I lightly pulled on it, I was able to pull it out completely, ripping it off at the bottom of the stem though. As I didn’t pull very hard I looked closer and saw that where it had ripped, it had somewhat rotted and turned dark and kinda shrunk (this rotting spot is very close to where the little stem is touching the soil and in the first little bit of the soil as well). This confused me a little, as the other seedlings seemed to be fine. When yesterday however, when this happened to another little tree I became concerned as I don’t want this to happen to the other plants. Reading up on how to grow cedars from seeds I feel like I did everything as instructed by the multiple sites I visited and nowhere I found anything about my problem or how to take care of them after they’ve sprouted. I grow the seedlings inside currently and they are in a sunny spot, however it has been not overly sunny these past days and won’t be for the next few days either (im located in north Germany). I try to keep the soil wet but not too wet and try to maximize the light exposure. My question now is if anyone knows what might be causing the trees to „rot“ (I will just call it like that because I don’t know what is the reason) at the bottom of the stem and how I can prevent this from happening to the other seedlings. Should I prevent the soil from ever getting dry in the top layer or is it because the soil is wet too often?I post this here but if anyone knows where this might reach a better audience please let me know as I really want these seedling to succeed and to grow further.
