I have a spot in my garden (UK) where a deep space is available and it's not too exposed, so I think acers would do very well. I'd like to plant maybe three complementary acer trees, but am really overwhelmed by the sheer diversity of shapes, colours and sizes available. After several days of Google searches I'm hopeful someone with great knowledge of acers will be able to provide some quick pointers to help narrow my search.Generally I'm looking for:A mid to large sized standard tree with a wide canopy to create a dappled shade. Ideally not a tall canopy, something more focused on umbrella form.A tall, more narrow form tree to go behind that, in complementary / attractively contrasting colours.
